Garganta del Diablo Guide
The Devil's Throat: Witness the Raw Power of Iguazu Falls Guide
Prepare to be awestruck by the Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat), the largest and most impressive waterfall in the Iguazu Falls system. Located on the border between Argentina and Brazil, this horseshoe-shaped cataract plunges with thunderous force, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of water, mist, and rainbows. A visit to the Garganta del Diablo is an unforgettable experience that will leave you breathless. The Iguazu Falls, including the Garganta del Diablo, were formed millions of years ago by a volcanic eruption that left a large crack in the earth. The Iguazu River flows over this crack, creating the stunning cascade of waterfalls that we see today. The Garganta del Diablo is the largest of the 275 falls that make up the Iguazu Falls system, and it is estimated that over half of the river's water flows through this single cataract. To reach the Garganta del Diablo, you'll take the Tren Ecológico de la Selva (Ecological Train of the Jungle) from the Central Station within the Iguazu National Park. The train ride itself is a scenic experience, offering glimpses of the surrounding rainforest. From the final train stop, a series of walkways lead you directly over the Iguazu River to the edge of the Garganta del Diablo. Be prepared to get wet from the mist! While the park itself doesn't have specific culinary offerings, Puerto Iguazú offers a variety of restaurants serving Argentinian cuisine, including grilled meats and empanadas. You can also find restaurants offering international cuisine.
