Devil's Throat Guide

Witness the Fury: Stand at the Edge of Devil's Throat, Iguazu Guide

Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo) is the largest and most impressive of the hundreds of waterfalls that make up Iguazu Falls. This horseshoe-shaped cataract plunges with immense power and creates a thunderous roar that can be heard for miles. Standing on the viewing platform at Devil's Throat is an unforgettable experience, offering a breathtaking perspective on the raw force of nature. The Iguazu Falls, including Devil's Throat, were formed millions of years ago by a volcanic eruption that created a massive crack in the earth. Over time, the Iguazu River carved its way through the landscape, creating the stunning waterfalls we see today. Devil's Throat is constantly evolving as the water erodes the rock face, making each visit a unique experience. The main activity at Devil's Throat is simply taking in the awe-inspiring view. The viewing platform extends out over the edge of the falls, allowing you to feel the mist and hear the roar of the water. You can also take photos and videos to capture the moment. The surrounding area offers hiking trails and other viewpoints, allowing you to explore the falls from different perspectives. Similar to the Macuco Safari, the Devil's Throat experience is primarily focused on the natural wonder itself. However, within Iguazu National Park and in the nearby towns of Puerto Iguazu (Argentina) and Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), you'll find a wide range of restaurants offering local and international cuisine.
