La Aripuca Guide
Aripuca: A Monument to Conservation near Iguazu Falls Guide
Discover La Aripuca, a unique and thought-provoking attraction located near the magnificent Iguazu Falls in Argentina. This eco-tourism project is more than just a tourist destination; it's a powerful statement about the importance of preserving the region's native forests and promoting sustainable practices. Built entirely from rescued trees, La Aripuca offers a fascinating glimpse into the environmental challenges facing the area and the creative solutions being implemented. La Aripuca was created by Alfredo Neumann, who was deeply concerned about the deforestation occurring in the Iguazu region. He envisioned a place where visitors could learn about the importance of protecting the rainforest and appreciate the beauty of the native trees. The structure itself is designed to resemble a traditional indigenous trap, known as an "aripuca," but instead of capturing animals, it captures the attention of visitors and inspires them to become advocates for conservation. At La Aripuca, you can wander through the impressive structure, marveling at the size and beauty of the rescued trees. Learn about the different species of trees and their ecological importance. There are also craft shops selling locally made products, offering a chance to support sustainable businesses. While La Aripuca itself doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, the surrounding area offers opportunities to sample regional cuisine, including dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Transportation
The easiest way to reach La Aripuca is by taxi or remis (private car service) from Puerto Iguazu.
