Iguazu National Park Guide

Nature's Fury: Experience the Majesty of Iguazu Falls Guide

Iguazu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to the breathtaking Iguazu Falls, one of the world's most spectacular waterfalls. Straddling the border between Argentina and Brazil, the park offers unparalleled views of the cascading water and the lush rainforest that surrounds it. Prepare to be amazed by the sheer power and beauty of nature. The park was established in 1934 to protect the unique biodiversity of the region and the stunning Iguazu Falls. The falls are formed by the Iguazu River, which plunges over a basalt cliff, creating a series of hundreds of individual waterfalls. The most famous of these is the Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo), a U-shaped cataract that is the largest and most impressive part of the falls. Indigenous Guarani people have lived in the area for centuries, and their culture is intertwined with the natural environment. Visitors can explore the park via a network of well-maintained trails and walkways, offering different perspectives of the falls. Boat tours take you right up to the base of the falls for an exhilarating and unforgettable experience. For the adventurous, there are opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and even rappelling. The park also boasts a rich culinary scene. Try the local empanadas, grilled meats (asado), and the refreshing mate tea. Many restaurants within and around the park offer stunning views of the falls.
