Puerto de Frutos Guide
Puerto de Frutos: A Riverside Market of Crafts and Delights Guide
Escape the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires and discover the charming Puerto de Frutos (Fruit Port) in Tigre, a town located on the ParanĂ¡ Delta. This vibrant market is a treasure trove of handcrafted goods, furniture, decorations, and regional products. Stroll along the waterfront, browse the stalls, and soak in the lively atmosphere. Puerto de Frutos offers a unique shopping experience and a glimpse into the local culture. Originally, Puerto de Frutos served as a trading post for fruits and other agricultural products brought in from the islands of the ParanĂ¡ Delta. Farmers would transport their goods by boat to the port, where they would be sold to merchants and consumers. Over time, the market evolved into a center for crafts and artisanal products. Today, while you can still find some fresh produce, the market is primarily known for its wide array of handcrafted items, including wicker furniture, wooden carvings, leather goods, and textiles. At Puerto de Frutos, you can spend hours exploring the diverse range of products on offer. Browse the furniture stores for unique pieces to decorate your home, find souvenirs for friends and family, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere. Many vendors offer demonstrations of their crafts, allowing you to see firsthand how the products are made. In addition to shopping, you can take a boat tour of the ParanĂ¡ Delta, explore the nearby town of Tigre, or relax at one of the many restaurants and cafes along the waterfront. The area is known for its "parrillas" (grill restaurants) where you can enjoy traditional Argentine barbecue. Also, try the "mate," a traditional South American caffeinated drink, often shared among friends.
